Championship Weekend

My favorite weekend of the year returned after a two year hiatus – the CIAC State Basketball Tournament finals at Mohegan Sun Arena. It’s always fun shooting in a professional grade arena, plus the staff at Mohegan always treat everyone with top-notch service.

This past weekend featured 10 games, 5 on Saturday, and 5 on Sunday. I was assigned to cover 7 of them, plus a couple of hockey finals on Monday and Tuesday nights. Like I said, my favorite weekend of the year.

East Hartford’s Shailyn Pickney scored 26 points, leading the Hornets to a 54-33 win over Wilton High in the CIAC Class LL Girls Basketball Championship on Sunday.
