The Streamliner Diner

July 28, 2010 By David Whitham

The Streamliner Diner is a vintage 1930’s era diner that was originally located in Hanover, NH and was moved to Newport, NH in 1957. In 1990, the diner was purchased and restored by the Savannah College of Art and Design, and features original mauve marble counter tops, stained glass, a tile floor and mahogany booths.

This is something the college does amazingly well – they restore old buildings in Savannah, and turn them into useful, and beautiful, pieces of architecture. The diner serves breakfast and lunch on Monday – Thursday, and is part of SCAD’s food program.
